It's normal to be protective of our family members and ensure that their privacy is being respected. So when this father goes away, and his daughter is working remotely from his home, she is surprised to see his girlfriend turn up at the house unannounced. She claimed she had left her wallet, yet 45 minutes had passed, and she was still wandering around with little to no explanation. Was she snooping on her boyfriend? Or was this her dad's some sort of way to keep an eye on her whilst he's away? Either option made her feel more uncomfortable than the next, as she started to debate whether to tell her father about his gf's surprise visit, or to act as if nothing happened…an avoidant-style attempt at keeping the peace…

However, many could argue that he had probably given her permission to come over whenever she liked…something very common for most couples who have been dating for over two years. After all, they are adults, so we can assume that they are likely in communication about each other's whereabouts…But if we're wrong, and she was there trying to snoop, then this daughter is caught in a very sticky situation.

Our best advice would be to bring it up casually, a passing comment while conversing with her dad. If nothing is suspicious and he knew about her visit, she has nothing to worry about…and as for the opposite, then she would be stopping a dishonest relationship from forming. Either way, honestly seems to be the right answer here.
